Progress Pride crosswalk celebration
On October 3, 2022, the CapU community celebrated the official opening of the main campus' new Progress Pride Crosswalk with music, games, and prizes. After the event, the Capilano Students' Union invited everyone to visit the new Queer Resource Centre, located in the Birch Building, room BR313.
About the Progress Pride Flag
The flag was designed in 2018 by Daniel Quasar, who added a five-colored chevron to the classic Rainbow Flag, which is widely recognized as the symbol of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, to place a greater emphasis on inclusion and progression.
The flag includes black and brown stripes to represent marginalized 2SLGBTQ+ communities—the black stripe doubly representing community members lost to HIV/AIDS and those currently living with AIDS—along with the colours pink, light blue and white, which are used on the Transgender Pride flag.
