DESCRIPTION:Capilano University is proud to host the 2026 edition of WCLAM at its main North Vancouver campus on May 30–31, 2026. The program will feature keynote lectures, contributed talks and a poster session highlighting interdisciplinary applications of linear algebra. This event will promote collaboration and knowledge exchange within the linear algebra community, while also showcasing CapU's commitment to STEM research and teaching. The conference is expected to attract 65-70 participants and will be supported by major academic sponsors, including PIMS (Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences) and ILAS (International Linear Algebra Society). Registration and abstract submission Registration and abstract submissions for WCLAM 2026 are open from March 10 to April 30. Register / Submit abstract After April 30, abstract submissions will no longer be accepted; however, if you plan to attend the meeting, please contact us at wclam2026@capilanou.ca. Conference schedule  Saturday, May 30 - 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.Welcome remarks, keynote address, contributed talks, a poster session and an informal banquet Sunday, May 31 - 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.Morning research talks and a closing session in the afternoon  Confirmed plenary speakers  Minerva Catral (Xavier University, USA) - Combinatorial matrix theory; analytic number theory.Dr. Catral's work investigates how combinatorial matrix properties - such as sign or zero-nonzero patterns - affect algebraic features like power positivity and inertia. Beatrice Meini (University of Pisa, Italy) - Numerical linear algebra (ILAS lecturer).Dr. Meini specializes in numerical methods for applied matrix problems, including algebraic Riccari equations and Markov chains. Her plenary talk at WCLAM 2026 is sponsored by the International Linear Algebra Society. Pietro Paparella (University of Washington, USA) - Matrix analysis.Dr. Paparella's research focuses on entrywise nonnegative matrices and their spectral properties.
