Cap grads own the stage in Dracula

Known to many as Hollywood North, Vancouver has long been a flourishing place for the performing arts. As such, Capilano University offers a wide array of dramatic arts programs to help students break into this ambitious industry. And, if the current cast of the Royal Canadian Theatre Company’s soon-to-open Dracula is any indication, Cap students are taking the city’s stages by storm.

Musical Theatre graduate Elyse Maloway will take on the role of Lucy alongside three other Cap alumni in the upcoming performance of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire drama. Alumni Hannah Williams, Steven Masson and Aaron Stewart play Miss Wells, Jonathan Harker and Renfield, respectively. In addition, Cap alumni Stephanie Bruce and Julian Legere act as stage and assistant stage managers.

For Elyse, this role is her chance to put her skills to the test—and, after three years in the program, she is feeling prepared.

“By the time I was graduating and getting ready to audition for Dracula, I had a lot of tools at my disposal that I knew would work for me,” says Elyse. “Cap really helped us build a foundation that we could work from.” More...
