Disciplines
Through exposure to a multitude of Disciplines , the program delivers a comprehensive grounding in basic methods, materials and techniques necessary to the contemporary artist. Students are encouraged to become independent learners and thinkers as well as skilled artists. They acquire knowledge of art throughout history, across cultures and in a contemporary setting. Through this exposure, students develop visual literacy, a way in which to understand the diversity and richness of visual information generated by our environment and culture. Students gain insights into analytical approaches, creative problem-solving, brainstorming and writing while they achieve a high level of facility with visual forms. In addition, human relations skills such as teamwork, cultural awareness and flexibility toward a diversity of views all play key roles in Studio Art.
