British Columbia Secondary School Math Contest

A competition open to high school students from British Columbia

Capilano University takes part in the BC Secondary School Mathematics Contest (formerly known as the BC Colleges High School Math Contest).  The contest consists of two rounds of competition at the junior (grades 8 to 10) and senior (grades 11 and 12) levels.  A 45-minute multiple choice preliminary round will be held in local secondary schools on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.  There is no limit to the number of students who may write the preliminary test.  The top junior and senior performers from each local school will be invited to Capilano University on Friday, May 6, 2011 to participate in the final round, have lunch and enjoy some mathematical activities.  Prizes will be awarded at the end of the day.

If you are a high school math teacher and would like your class/school to participate in the contest, please contact Marsha Anderson at maanders@capilanou.ca.  We need the name, address and fax number for your school, as well as an email address of the teacher involved.

For more information about the history of the contest, please visit the BC Colleges High School Mathematics Contest Overview web site.  Contest papers and solutions from 1999 to 2010 are available online.
