A Bachelor of ECCE provides students with advanced competencies and knowledge required to work with children under the age of five, including those children who require extra support, in licensed preschools and daycare centres. Graduates will be prepared to assume leadership roles as advocates, policy specialists, administrators, researchers and early childhood educators. Courses offer students further opportunities to pursue their understandings of the changing global context of child care, education, families, and childhood. They offer advanced perspectives on ECCE practice, encouraging graduates to continue to develop their abilities as outstanding educators and partners in children’s lives.
'As a long time educator and lecturer in the field of support for early childhood, I decided to extend and challenge my knowledge by joining the EDUC degree program at CapU. The work has been demanding in getting me to think and express beyond my usual habits. This will only add to my abilities in working with children, colleagues and parents. I recommend the journey to all who wish to improve their effect and connections with themselves and the world.' Margo Running, student, Bachelor of ECCE program

What are the differences between the Diploma and Degree Streams?

The Degree Stream will offer students further opportunities to pursue their understandings of ECCE.
"Being in the degree program is like learning a whole new language in education. It gave me an opportunity to question our educational system and in the process learned to see other possibilities. My ways of thinking and 'being' with the children has changed. I sense freedom being in the class as a student, as we are asked to suspend ourselves in questions, and that learning takes time. There is a demand in being in the degree program, it demands for their students to think and act ethically." Johanna Po, student, Bachelor of ECCE program
