Last autumn, Natalie Persadie was revising the first edition of her 2004 publication Commonwealth Caribbean: Business Law used by Management undergraduates at the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine (Trinidad). She thought that legal cartoons might be a nice way to begin each chapter. Natalie began using her chapter headings to guide her search. An internet search for cartoons on criminal liability in commercial activities led her to Jordan Harbord's cartoon, which was originally published as part of The Capilano Remix Project in March 2009. When Natalie spotted Jordan's cartoon, she was struck by how it dealt with white collar crime and asked for permission to include it in the 2010 edition of Commonwealth Caribbean: Business Law.
The upshot: In the new edition of Natalie's book, co-authored with Rajendra Ramlogan, Jordan's cartoon graces the beginning of Chapter Five which deals with criminalising business activities. The 2010 edition of the book, published by Routledge, is available as of 20 April 2010.
