The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is a mathematics contest for first through fourth year undergraduate university and college students in Canada and the United States. It provides interested students with the opportunity to tackle challenging and creative mathematical problems.
The Putnam is written on the first Saturday of December in two three-hour sessions: There are six questions in the morning and six questions in the afternoon.
