Admission Process

  • North Vancouver campus: Online applications are available for Summer 2018 intake (August 2018 start).  Email to add your name to our interest list and we will notify you of the next information meeting once scheduled.                  

    kálax-ay/Sunshine Coast Campus campus: It is unknown at this time when the EA program will be next offered in Sechelt. You may either:

    a) decide if you'd like to apply for the EA program at our North Vancouver campus starting August 2018 (Summer 2018 intake); 
    b) place your name on an interest list for possible future intake in Sechelt (any future offerings may be considered after Summer 2019). To add your name to this interest list please contact the kálax-ay/Sunshine Coast Campus campus.   

    If you are interested in applying to the Education Assistant Program, please complete this two step process.

    Step 1. Apply To Capilano University

    You must meet the admission requirements for the program and be admitted to the University prior to being admitted to the Education Assistant Program.

    After applying online or in person/by mail, you must submit the application fee and supporting documents to the Registrar's Office. For details, see Application Information

    Step 2: Apply To The Education Assistant Program

    Attend A Program Information Meeting

    This is a mandatory requirement for our application process.

    Check our events page for upcoming information meeting dates. Meetings are usually held from 6-8 p.m. Please call our office at 604.984.4960 to register for one of the information meetings or email

    Provide All Documents Required For Program Admission

    These are all the documents identified in the Admission Requirements EXCEPT for your education transcripts (gr.12) which will be attached to your Capilano University Admission Application.

    You may choose to bring these required Program Admission documents to the Program Information Meeting and submit them at that time. Attendees of the information meeting are provided with details regarding deadline date for application and document submission; typically 4 weeks after information meeting.

    Documents include:

    • handwritten Letter of Interest describing why you would like to work as an EA and why you would be an excellent candidate for admission. Please be sure to include a telephone number and email where you may be contacted.
    • updated resume.
    • three (3) letters of reference, from employers or responsible persons in the community, one of which must certify the successful completion of volunteer or paid experience working with children or adolescents.
    • a criminal record check must be obtained through our EA department. For information, see Criminal Record Check.
    • letter from an employer or teacher verifying that you are computer literate and able to perform basic computer operations.

    Documents may also be dropped off at Cedar building, 3rd floor reception (south end of building by elevators). Reception hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.

    Pre-screening Selection

    Applicants who submit all documentation by the set deadline indicated at each Information Session will be considered by the EA Department's screening committee. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by phone 1 week after document submission deadline to attend an oral group interview with faculty. Dates for oral group interviews provided at respective information sessions.

    Attend An Interview With Faculty

    Attend the interview with faculty at the scheduled date, time and location. We look forward to hearing about your career goals!

    Notification of Application Results

    Candidates are notified by mail 2-3 weeks following the oral group interview regarding their acceptance status.
