New Student Orientation happens before the start of each term.
At Orientation, you have the opportunity to:
- Meet CapU staff and faculty who are here to teach, coach and guide you.
- Learn about academic and student support services available to you.
- Explore campus life, athletics, student clubs, social events and more.
- Attend workshops aimed to help you do well in class and adjust as a student.
- Make friends with other new and returning students.
- Have fun and make your first CapU memories!

All New Students Orientation Kick-Off Session (Online)
Date: April 29, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Start off your Journey at CapU with our All New Students Orientation Kick-Off session, where you'll learn about campus culture and resources from CapU staff and student leaders during engaging activities. This live interactive session will not be recorded, so join us! This session is mandatory for all new students. A link to access the session will be sent out in advance.
International Student Online Orientation (Mandatory for all new international students)
Date: April 30, 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
To ensure you are best prepared to succeed on your academic journey, the International Student Orientation will cover everything from student basics to study permits and health insurance. If you are an international student who is still uncertain about your travel plans or study permit status, we still recommend you register for the International Student Orientation so you can learn about what to expect as a new CapU student.
All New Students Welcome Fair
Date: May 1, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Before the start of the semester, we welcome you to visit us in the Cedar Courtyard on the North Vancouver Campus for our Welcome Fair. This is a great opportunity to meet other new students, learn about all the services available to you on campus and enjoy some free food. Here, you can pick up your new student swag, pick up your CapCard, and orient yourself to the campus.

The First Six Weeks (Online)
Date: April 30, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The first six weeks...and then there are midterm exams and assignments. You are new, and there is a lot coming at you. Do you want to know what is really, really critical, the academic 'must dos' to be on the way to a successful term? Join us for a week-by-week overview of what to pay attention to.

How to Cite and Avoid Cheating

Have you been told to cite your sources for an assignment? Not sure where to start? This is the workshop for you! Join the CapU Library and learn the basics of citing. Participants will practice creating a reference list, or works cited citations and learn strategies to cite any source in APA or MLA confidently.
