Noises Off
By Michael Frayn
Directed by Dawn Moore
Oct 20-23, 2010 @ 8pm; Oct 23, 2010 @ 3pm | $20/$14/$8
Ten trips up and down stairs, 7 slamming doors, 17 false entrances, 73 flubbed lines, 46 miscues, 22 double entendres, 2 love triangles, 3 dropped trousers, multiple hidden bottles of booze and a missing plate of sardines make Tony Award winner Noises Off one of the funniest farces of all times. Noises Off depicts the onstage and backstage antics of a fifth-rate acting troupe touring the kind of English comedy we tend to dislike, an awful farce named Nothing On where men drop their pants and pretty women run around in their undies. The curtain opens on a dreadful dress rehearsal of the first act of Nothing On. By the second act, we see the performance from backstage, where the real show goes on, revealing mounting tension between cast members as they happily, or not so happily, enter and exit the play.

The Hobbit
Adapted by Kim Selody
Directed by Stuart Aikins; Musical Direction by Kevin Michael Cripps
Nov 18-21, 25-27, 2010 @ 8pm; Nov 21 & 27, 2010 @ 3pm; Nov 23 & 24, 2010 @ 12 noon | $20/$14/$8
This exciting adventure is adapted by Kim Selody from the original story by JRR Tolkien and tells the tale of Bilbo Baggins as he struggles to lead a team of wild characters on a dangerous quest. A dark tale of daring and dangerous battle, the play begins with Touk setting the scene for Gandalf to visit Bilbo. He orders Bilbo to act as the burglar for the dwarves expedition to regain Thorins treasure from Smaug. Bilbo reluctantly departs, and with each increasingly difficult adventure, he gains the confidence and the heroism necessary to complete his task. Filled with music and movement, the play will enchant young and old as they watch the actors transform themselves into a myriad of beings from Middle Earth.

Ring Around the Moon
By Jean Anouilh
Directed by William Murdoch
Feb 9-12, 2011 @ 8pm; Feb 12, 2011 @ 3pm | $20/$14/$8
Ring Around the Moon is a gem from post-war French theatre that was originally called L’Invitation au Chateau. It was the first of Jean Anouilh’s plays to be discovered for the English theatre by noted stage director Peter Brook. The London Times in 1948 described it as “An enchanting little fairy tale...masked by cool, brittle, elegant mockery.” Thus we are pleased to bring this modern classic to life in an evening of tango, foxtrot and the forgotten magic of a ball. We invite you to our chateau where one can glimpse the forgotten elegance of gentle wit, whimsy and the romance of a “Cinderella evening” that makes a perfect companion to the Rodgers and Hammerstein reprise of Cinderella that ends the season.

Cinderella
By Rodgers and Hammerstein
Directed by Gillian Barber; Musical Direction by Kevin Michael Cripps
March 17-20, 24-26, 2011 @ 8pm; March 20 & 26, 2011 @ 3pm; March 22 & 23, 2011 @ 12 noon | $20/$14/$8
Join us for an evening that takes place “once upon a time in a kingdom far away.” The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Cinderella, the Enchanted Edition is adapted for the stage with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity; the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits. This version of Cinderella is based on the 1997 teleplay which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother. In the classic fairy tale, poor Cinderella is endlessly abused by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters and not allowed to attend the Royal Ball. With help from her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella goes to the ball, meets the Prince, falls in love and lives happily ever after.
