Guidlines for Library Purchases

      • Emphasis is on books that will have a significant lifespan in the collection and can be expected to have reasonable anticipated use.
      • Priority is given to books that support the curriculum and that are at an appropriate level for student research.
      • In addition, the Library strives to create a general knowledge collection. Therefore, books not directly related to the curriculum are ordered whenever the budget allows.
      • Please order all books that are on your “Recommended Reading” lists.
      • The Library does not buy course textbooks.

      Three Options for Ordering Books

Please provide as much information as possible as this will affect how quickly the book is added to the collection.

The acquisition process can take 2-3 weeks for eBooks and 4-8 weeks for print texts. In some cases, requests can be given rush status. If you have any questions please contact Karin Hall through e-mail or by phone (2164).

      Are You a Published Author?

We try to include books by Capilano University employees in the Library’s collection. Please inform Karin Hall if you have had a book published so a copy can be ordered.
