CapU's Health Care Assistant program is prepared for record demand.

“As the population ages, the demand for health care assistants is going to continue to increase,” said HCA program Coordinator Carol Tanner.

There are several other factors contributing to rising demand for health care assistants. As seniors live longer and remain in their homes, health care assistants will be needed to make house calls to them as community health workers. Furthermore, hospital stays can also prove to be costly and be both disorienting and frightening to some elderly people. “If we can avoid hospital stays by improving our home support programs, I think it’s better for the quality of life of people,” said Tanner.
