Cassidy’s research interests include eighteenth- and nineteenth-century British literature, the history of political economy, settler colonial studies, and the environmental humanities.  He is writing a book about rent, a concept naming not only the income of landlords, but more fundamentally the processes by which the “free powers of nature” are converted into economic wealth. His essays and reviews can be found in Modern Language Quarterly (MLQ), English Literary History (ELH), and European Romantic Review (forthcoming).  Before coming to Capilano, Cassidy completed his PhD (English) at the University of Chicago. He also holds an MA (English) from the University of British Columbia and a BA Hons (English) from Simon Fraser University.
