Transfer Options

    • BC Transfer Guide

      Make every credit count by planning your studies ahead of time using the BC Transfer Guide. You can search course by course or use the Search by Course Load feature to plan an entire term. Simply select the courses you want to take and you can see exactly how the university you choose will receive the transfer credit.

      Prior Learning Assessment

      Requests for prior learning assessment should be made in person through the specific faculty area. The applicable course tuition and any exceptional fees must be paid in full prior to the assessment of the request. No course standing will be issued if any University account is outstanding.

      Transfer Credit, Substitution and Exemption

      • Request for Transfer Credit form (pdf)
      • Requests for transfer credit are processed by the Registrar's Office based on transfer agreements outlined in the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer online Transfer Guide (BCCAT).
      • Requests for substitution and exemption are processed by the Registrar’s Office in consultation with the appropriate faculty area.
      • All requests for transfer credit, substitution, and exemption must be supported by an official transcript. For courses completed at out-of-province institutions, detailed course outlines must also be submitted. The University also reserves the right to request detailed course outlines for some courses taken within British Columbia.
      • Requests for transfer credit, substitution and exemption can be made by mail, by fax, or in person at the Registrar's Office. Processing time will vary, but in general requests are processed within 4-6 weeks. There is no fee required to request transfer credit, substitution or exemption; however, no course standing will be issued if any University account is outstanding.

      Process for Requesting Transfer Credit, Substitution or Exemption

      By Mail

      Request for Transfer Credit forms (pdf) submitted by mail should be sent to the Registrar's Office. Requests will be processed once all the required information (i.e. required official transcripts and/or course outlines) has been received.

      By Fax

      Request for Transfer Credit forms (pdf) submitted by by fax should be faxed to the Registrar's Office at 604.984.1798. Requests will be processed once all the required information (i.e. required official transcripts and/or course outlines) has been received.

      In Person

      To request transfer credit, substitution or exemption in person, please bring your student ID or picture ID to the Registrar's Office in the Birch Building at the North Vancouver campus. You will be asked to complete a Request for Transfer Credit form (pdf).
