Capilano University Festival Chorus
Rites of Spring: A new electro-acoustic commission by composer sensations Andrei Diaconu and Taymaz Saba. Our Father from Ennio Morricone’s The Mission, EarthSong by Frank Ticheli and Rejoice! by Jeffrey Ames. A delicious mix of the best choral music available! Capilano University Festival Chorus sings a vast range of choral music from the medieval period to newly commissioned works. In the spring of 2008, we had the pleasure of premiering a stunning new work by Moshe Denburg, Dreams of the Wanderer, with the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra. Other major works performed include Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s, Brahms’ and Faure’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass in C. The choir may be taken for credit or non-credit. If you are interested in joining Festival Chorus, please call 604.986.1911. ext 2309 to schedule and audition.

Cecilia Ensemble Women’s Choir
Rites of Spring: Works will include Tundra by Ola Gjeilo and Five Hebrew Songs by Eric Whitacre. Cecilia Ensemble Women’s Choir is a well-established ensemble that takes its name from the patron saint of music, St. Cecilia. It emphasizes the enjoyment of different styles of music while learning choral skills. The wealth of repertoire for women’s voices is explored and particular delight is taken in commissioning new works and performing with guest musicians. Memorable highlights include performing Gustav Holst works with renowned harpist Rita Costanzi, being guest performer with Laudate singers, and singing Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at Holy Rosary Cathedral with organist Denis Bédard. This friendly group welcomes new members. If you are interested in joining Cecilia Ensemble, please call 604.986.1911, ext. 2309 to schedule and audition.
