Labour Studies will deliver courses when and where you want them: regionally, locally or nationally. If you need a classroom, space can be arranged at the Capilano University campus.

Sponsor a Course With Other Unions and Reduce Costs
If you do not have enough participants to run a course, we can help you “bundle” the course with participants from other unions. It’s an ideal way to ensure courses that would otherwise be canceled become a reality, making union education possible and economical.
We Do What You Need
We offer custom designed courses providing comprehensive knowledge and training in labour law, bargaining, the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB), human rights, the respectful workplace, labour history, policy, economics, and more. Take advantage of options like our Leadership Training Package or Training for Staff Representatives (see below).
Leadership Training Package:
Build a package by selecting the topics that best meet your needs. Participants will learn how to run meetings, set agendas, manage committees, resolve conflicts and use facilitation techniques. This may include human resource management skills for senior staff and elected officials.
Training for Staff Representatives:
We can train new or potential staff reps or business agents on how to present arbitrations, facilitate groups, manage campaigns, conduct legal research, write legal submissions, manage caseloads, deal with WCB appeals and improve collective bargaining skills. We can also upgrade staff reps’ skill sets in: investigating and processing human rights complaints, labour law, employment standards, duty to accommodate, and personal harassment.
There are also professional level seminars available on newsletter writing, report writing, and developing communication skills.
