Why Weight?

Weight loss isn’t about calories, carbs, grams of fat or glycemic index! It’s about getting to know your body’s unique needs. Why Weight? uses one-on-one advice, a field trip, and written exercises to encourage an “A-Hah!” moment — imperative to permanent weight loss. You’ll learn why weight gain is only a symptom of something else that can be fixed! Instructor Carol Crenna is the editor of a health magazine, a nutritionist and a winner at weight loss. Course includes an individual lifestyle assessment and consultation ($80 value).

Your Invention: From Idea to Patent to Market

Turn your great idea into reality! Through lectures and group work, you will learn how to assess the viability of your idea, develop a prototype and navigate the patent process. Also covered are key aspects of manufacturing and selling your invention, including production costs and techniques, finding relevant industries to approach and what to watch for when presenting your idea. Essential marketing concepts including pricing, promotion and packaging are also explored.

Watching Stars Change: A Look at the Night Sky    NEW

Get a comet named after you. Be the first to spot a supernova, Find a planet orbiting around another star. Yes, you can do these things and more in your own backyard. Astronomy is one of the last sciences where amateurs can still make a significant contribution, and this course will help you develop the tools you need to do it. Participants will learn how to buy a telescope, find objects in the night sky and how they can contribute to the field of astronomy. Includes an evening field trip.

Stand-Up Comedy

Have you ever been told you should be a comedian? Here is your chance to give it a try! During this course you will learn how to create material, learn joke structure, the set up, and how to hone your own original material. Learn how to prepare for a performance, use the microphone, organizing a set list, and where the gigs are. On the last evening you and your classmates will showcase your talents at a comedy club.
