      Introduction to Digital Photography

The focus of this hands-on course is to come to terms with your digital camera. We will learn by doing. You will learn what all those controls, buttons and menus are for, when to use them, and how to get your pictures from your camera to your computer or the web. Take a hands-on tour of your camera’s features, learning technical terms and photographic concepts as you go. Practice shooting techniques and learn how to edit, print, email, and archive images. Bring your digital camera to class. There will be six in-class sessions that will combine instruction, shooting photos, and working in Photoshop, as well as one on-location shoot. Access to a computer is advisable.

      Photographing People & Places NEW

An often overlooked pearl right in our midst, Chinatown and Gastown provide the setting for a variety of shooting opportunities, including the exotic outdoor markets, gardens and magical street scenes. For those with a working knowledge of their digital camera, two intensive shooting sessions provide a focused learning opportunity. This course includes an opening in-class session and a follow-up image evaluation session, so that we can critique, compare and learn from each others’ images once we’ve had a chance to cull and process them on our own.
