      Anne Frame

      Anne is a highly experienced piano teacher. She started teaching private lessons as a teenager working mainly within the Toronto Conservatory program and through Nelson’s Music School in Victoria. Since completing her Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University in the 1980’s, Anne has focused more on teaching piano in group situations, believing that music is best learned and enjoyed in the company of others.

      Roshanak Farzadkish

      Roshi started playing piano at age eight in Iran, focusing on Iranian music. At sixteen, she turned her focus to Western classical music. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree and Master’s degree in piano performance at Art University in Iran. Since moving to Vancouver she has completed a conducting certificate at Capilano University. Her desire is to help her students experience the joy of playing and practicing the piano.

      Serah Strandberg

      Serah has a Bachelor of Music degree from UBC, and has completed her ARCT in piano performance. She has over 20 years of experience as a private piano instructor and has been teaching group piano classes for Capilano Community Music School since 1996.

      Jennifer Yamazaki

      Jennifer has taught music to young children for the past seven years. She is currently attending Capilano University, working towards a bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. Jennifer believes that music instruction for children should be achieved in a positive, fun, and welcoming learning environment which in turn will nurture each child’s love for creating music.

      Torey Zachary

      An award-winning pianist, Torey has also studied voice (classical and jazz), guitar, and Orff Methodology. In addition to teaching CapPiano at the Capilano Community Music School she teaches private piano lessons, and music classes for toddlers at community centres and daycares. Torey enjoys teaching students of all ages and has a particular interest in the benefits of music study for children with special needs.

      Solmaz Saba

      Solmaz started playing piano in Iran at age 7, focusing on Western classical music and held her first concert when she was twelve. At age 15, she moved to Paris to study piano at École National de Musique de Creteil and later returned to Iran to complete an Associated Diploma in Architecture. Since moving to Vancouver, Solmaz has completed a Music Diploma with a piano major, and a Conducting Certificate at Capilano University. Her passion is to help her students enjoy learning and playing piano.

      Suzuki:

      Mark Luchkow

      Mark began studying the violin at the age of three and after many years of study he changed his focus to viola. Mark received his Bachelor of Music degree at UBC. He is an active performer, playing in orchestras such as the North Shore’s Sinfonia and the Vancouver Symphony, as well as the Twelfth Night Trio. He currently teaches viola at the Vancouver Academy of Music and has been teaching violin in the Cap Community Music School Suzuki Strings program since 2000.

      Maxwell Ngai

      Maxwell has been a professional violinist and teacher for 20 years, performing throughout Canada, USA and Europe. He studied at the Victoria Conservatory, Saint Louis Conservatory, and at Indiana University, where he specialized in Baroque violin and violin pedagogy. He has done Suzuki Teacher Training with Sanford Reuning, William Starr, and Rosalind O’Keefe and has been teaching violin in our Cap Suzuki Strings programsince 2002.

      Zuzana Uskovitsova

      Originally from Zilina, Slovakia, Zuzana competed her studies at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2004 received a Master’s degree in violin performance. Zuzana grew up in a musical family, with both her parents being music teachers. She plays with many orchestras, chamber music ensembles and has performed on cruise ships. Zuzana has been teaching in our Cap Suzuki Strings program since 2008.

      Patricia Walchuk

      Pat Walchuk saw a Suzuki beginner class perform at a recital when she was a teenager and was entranced. After completing a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Manitoba she completed a certificate in Early Childhood Education and Suzuki teacher training up to Book Six. She has 30 years of teaching experience and has taught in the Cap Suzuki Strings program since 1990.

      Kodaly Orff:

      Nadine Bohna

      Nadine has a Master of Music degree in vocal performance, a primary education teaching certificate, Level 2 Orff, and Kodaly training. She teaches vocal instruction and Orff Methodology in the Music Diploma program at Capilano University and is the Community Music School program coordinator. Nadine has been teaching Kodaly Orff Music for Children classes since she initiated the program in 1978.

      Andi Higgs

      Andi has a diploma in flute performance and teaches flute, clarinet and saxophone both privately and as a guest clinician across the Lower Mainland. She is a certified Kindermusik educator and has been teaching early childhood music classes since 2005. Andi firmly believes that music is a key factor in a child’s development and that a child’s exposure to music is a wonderful outlet for self-expression.

      Justin O'Donohue

      Justin has a diploma in Jazz Studies from Capilano University and is currently completing his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies with an education major. He has also completed Capilano University’s Introductory Orff Methodology course. In addition to his music education endeavors, Justin enjoys playing trumpet, guitar and singing in a variety of local ensembles.

      Paul Pinsonnault

      Paul received his Bachelor of Child Care and Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Victoria and completed his Masters degree in guitar performance at UBC in 1993. He has been performing and teaching guitar for over three decades, and joined the Capilano Children’s Community Music School as a Kodaly Orff and guitar instructor in 1990.
