Draw inspiration from nature to create a piece of functional art. Combine materials from the earth—concrete, sand, and plants—to design and make a stepping stone for your own indoor or outdoor space. Learn studio safety procedures, how to mix your own concrete, and how to harvest leaves and other plant materials sustainably. Explore the process of designing a stepping stone from casting the concrete through to placement in your garden or home.
This summer course helps creative individuals add digital technology to their repertoire of tools. Through a multi-layered project completed during the week, learn all the basics of Photoshop CS5 and general Photoshop handling including image manipulation, computer colour theory, storage and multiple image and printing issues. Bring your own drawings or other imagery, textile samples etc. to work from (on USB). Note that some previous computer experience is helpful but not essential. Please bring a USB flash drive and a notebook.
If you have always wanted to learn to dance or are just looking for a fun way to get in shape, this is for you—an intensive introduction to basic ballet and jazz techniques. Emphasis is on injury prevention, general health and fitness, and increasing strength, flexibility, and physical awareness. This is highly recommended for students entering the fall theatre programs.
