Dr. Rick Colbourne is an award winning educator with a demonstrated record of leadership, success and international experience in education. Most recently, as Assistant Dean, Indigenous Business Education, Dr. Colbourne led the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business’ efforts to engage, consult, collaborate and partner with Indigenous communities, associations, post-secondary institutions and corporations. He focused on building business and management capacity to facilitate Indigenous participation in regional economic development opportunities in Canada. Recognized for excellence by the Honourable Paul Martin, former Prime Minister of Canada, the Martin Educational Initiative and by the Honourable John Duncan, former Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development in Canada.

As Adjunct Professor and the Executive Director of the Learning Strategies Group (LSG) at Simon Fraser University’s Segal Graduate School of Business, Dr. Colbourne led an accomplished team of professionals in designing customized credit and non-credit executive education programs for local, national and international businesses, associations and corporations across industry sectors that included consulting, finance and accounting, healthcare, banking, mining and high technology. Under Dr. Colbourne’s leadership, the Learning Strategies Group was recognized for excellence by the Canadian Council on Learning’s (CCL) Sharing the Flame project for innovation in learning.
Dr. Rick Colbourne is a member of the Mattawa/North Bay Algonquin First Nation in Northern Ontario, teaches as an Adjunct Professor and sits on industry and academic advisory boards and steering committees in Canada.
