Alumna Linda Epp, Advocate for First Nation Rights
While still a student at Capilano University, Linda Epp organized an Aboriginal Awareness Month and initiated the inclusion of First Nations traditions in Cap U’s graduation ceremony; she was the first graduate to cross the stage at a Capilano University convocation in First Nations regalia. A passionate advocate for First Nations rights, a natural connector, and a Cap U Bachelor of Tourism Management alumna, Linda is committed both personally and professionally to bringing awareness to missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada.

Joe Iacobellis Leaves a Legacy of Achievement at Cap U
After 39 years of distinguished service to Cap U, Joe Iacobellis is retiring. Under Joe’s direction as Manager, Cap U’s Blues Athletics program grew to become one of the most successful post-secondary athletics programs in BC.
“Joe intensely challenged his players, but he was always very balanced and supportive. And he supported our academic goals as well,” recalls Eric Accili, former Blues soccer player and outgoing Chair of the Capilano University Alumni Association. Under Joe’s leadership, Blues athletes won 38 Academic All-Canadian awards, 60 provincial academic excellence awards, and 57 All-Canadian awards.
Joe also assisted in designing the Sportsplex and raised funds for athletic scholarships. In his latter years he served as Director of Student Affairs and worked with the Centre for International Experience. “When I began working at Capilano in 1977, I could not have imagined that I would conclude my career in the same institution after almost four decades,” says Joe. “Although I am retiring, Capilano University will always be a part of my life.”
To honour Joe’s remarkable contribution to the Blues and Cap U, please consider a gift to the
Adopt-a-Blue fund to help turn today’s student athletes into tomorrow’s community leaders.

The impromptu event was well attended, with alums from new graduates to 10-year veterans enjoying conversation on common business and personal goals. To learn more about past and future events of the Capilano University Business Alumni, please go to the CAPUBA
