Jordan Kallman (vice-chair)
Jordan is a proud graduate of the Tourism Management Degree. Whether it was as a Community-based Tourism Project member in Vietnam, receiving a standing ovation at the Tourism Industry Conference after making a passionate speech to 500 industry professionals, or watching students participate in his co-created tourism case-study competition, Jordan had key life moments while at the campus. He just completed a two and a half year experience with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games as the Manager, Plaza and Events for the Olympic and Paralympic Athlete Villages.
Jordan brings a strong Capilano University student network, a keen marketing sense, and demonstrated success in delivering boutique event experiences in many different environments. He hopes to use these skills to help formulate a plan to engage past and future Alumni in a program that continues to fuel the passion, the benefits, and the sense of community Capilano is so well known for.
Eric Accili
Vivid memories of time spent at Capilano, and its exciting emergence as one of BC’s newest Universities, has fueled Eric’s desire to be a part of the Capilano University Alumni Board. Eric began in the Cap university transfer program in science, with a focus on Biology. In addition to counting fruit flies and watching the bears walk through the north campus parking lot, Eric played for Joe Iacobellis and the Capilano Soccer team for two years in which they won the league both times without suffering any defeats (although Coach Joe made him suffer at soccer practice). An outstanding experience in science at Capilano motivated Eric to complete a B.Sc. in Biology at the University of British Columbia while playing on the soccer team there, too. Following a doctoral degree also at UBC, Eric moved first to the University of Milan, Italy and then to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he became expert in how nerves and heart cells generate electricity. His first faculty position moved him back to the Lower Mainland, to the School of Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. In 2005, Eric took up a position in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia as a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair where he has established an internationally-recognized program of research aimed at understanding the normal and abnormal electrical behaviour of nerves and the heart. In addition to his experience within the University environment, Eric has served on granting committees and review panels at the local and national level and currently sits on the Research Advisory Committee for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Yukon, which assesses research progress, sets annual budgets for new and ongoing projects and advises on research policy. As a member of the Alumni Board, Eric looks forward to working with the other members and the larger Capilano community to help reach its considerable potential as a new University.
James Brown
After graduating with a BA in Film Studies from Carleton University in Ottawa, James moved to Vancouver to enroll in Capilano’s Motion Picture Production program. While earning his diploma from Capilano, James wrote for the student newspaper, the Capilano Courier. Following graduation, his film studies expertise led him to be hired as program coordinator for the 2008 Whistler Film Festival. After a successful event, James shifted over to the production element for his next two projects as director’s assistant on the feature film, Gunless, starring Paul Gross, and as a Visual Effects Assistant on the new Zach Snyder feature film, Suckerpunch.
James currently resides in the production wing as Associate Producer at Ravenwest Films working alongside Canadian director Carl Bessai. Their most recent films, Repeaters played as a Special Presentation at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, and Fathers & Sons was the opening film for the Canadian Images section of the Vancouver International Film Festival.
James continues to champion the mission and values of Capilano University at any and all industry events, and is very excited to be working alongside such a talented and productive group of like-minded individuals.

Cherry Itty
It was our engaging and real-world learning programs and the institution’s understanding of the needs of international students that drew Cherry Itty to Capilano. Cherry graduated with a bachelor's degree in Tourism Management and went on to earn an MBA from Queen's University. His tourism training has opened interesting career doors for him, from the luxury Oberoi Hotel chain in India to Carnival Cruise Lines to his current position with Intrawest ULC, where he is director of Contracts and Loans. Continually interested in governance, Cherry served as a director of the Capilano Students’ Union and as a member of the Capilano College board of governors.
Susanne Rashed
Suzanne completed the Arts & Entertainment Management programme in 2004 after working in her industry for a number of years. She feels very connected to Capilano and got an even better sense of Cap's unique atmosphere while doing her practicum with Cap's Jazz and Folk'n'Roots concert series. An SFU Communications Graduate, Suzanne has worked in Vancouver and internationally in communications and event management for over 15 years. An appreciation for diversity drives Suzanne's work. From working in media in the UK, to UNESCO cultural projects in Syria, and recently working with the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games as Supervisor - Press Services, she considers herself fortunate to have had some great opportunities.
No stranger to academia, Suzanne has also worked as an instructor, curriculum developer and for five years in Alumni Development for International College in Beirut. Suzanne is looking forward to her time with the Board and is excited to be part of a Board that can shape and charter its own course, and be more in tune with its Alumni. She is a firm believer that the quality of any institution is
measured by the success of its graduates, and Capilano has that in spades.
