The English for Academic Purposes Department (EAP) has partnered with the School of Business, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), and with the English department to create strategic pathway programs that help international students enter the university and study combined programming that will development language skills while studying academic content with appropriate levels of support.

There are a large number of private language schools in the city who actively recruit short term ESL students who during their stay in Vancouver, decide they wish to pursue academic studies. The EAP department has articulated its curriculum at the EAP 080 level with 8 private pathway partner schools. These students can transfer directly to Capilano University’s programs that require an IELTS score of 5.5 (no band under 5.0) or equivalent.
