(SECHELT, B.C.)—Leading cosmologists Douglas Scott and Mark Halpern will discuss advances in cosmology at a free public lecture at the Sunshine Coast campus of Capilano College on Saturday, November 6 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Capilano College will join with the TRIUMF Outreach program and the UBC Physics and Astronomy department to discuss current issues in the world of physics. Douglas Scott is a leading theoretical cosmologist while Mark Halpern is a veteran of many balloon, rocket and satellite cosmological experiments. The event will be of interest to the general public as well as to high school science students. As seating is limited, please call 604.885.9310 to register.
Advances in Cosmology is the first in a series of lectures that will be held at the campus. Green/Sustainable building is a day long forum that is being planned for early February. This event will increase awareness of both commercial and residential green building. Its purpose is to encourage Sunshine Coast builders to provide green housing as a model for other B.C. communities. More details will be announced when the date for this lecture is confirmed.
