(NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.)—Students from the Capilano College Textile Arts program will be holding their annual grad show at Deep Cove’s Seymour Art Gallery, 4360 Gallant, from June 6 – July 6. The gallery is open from 12 to 4 p.m. daily except Monday. The general public is invited to attend an opening reception on Tuesday, June 10 from 7 to 9 p.m., and a gallery talk on Thursday, June 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Works in the show have been selected to represent the wide range of techniques and approaches taught in the program, which offers either a full-time, two-year diploma, or a one-year Advanced Textile Arts certificate. Occasional part-time evening courses are also offered. Students learn about textile arts by exploring many different processes and by studying historical and contemporary works.
Past graduates are working professionally as artists, crafts people or designers in fashion or interior design. Some graduates have found employment in film or theatre productions, or work for arts organizations or related businesses. The program can also be a stepping-stone toward further studies in degree granting programs.
