      (NORTH VANCOUVER)--Capilano College is hosting a lecture by Peter Quartermain, poet and retired University of British Columbia poetry instructor, on Sunday, January 26 at 2 p.m. It will take place at the North Vancouver campus, 2055 Purcell Way, in the Library building, room 322. His topic, Inventing a Life: an Autobiographical Mutter, will reflect on the puzzles confronting the autobiographer. The event is free; parking is $3.

      Quatermain taught contemporary poetry and poetics at UBC for more than 30 years, retiring in 1999. He has written or edited numerous articles and several books, including Basil Bunting: Poet of the North (1990) and Disjunctive Poetics (1992). He edited with the English poet, Richard Caddel, Other: British and Irish Poetry Since 1970 (1999) and, with Rachel Blau DuPlessis, The Objectivist Nexus: Essays in Cultural Poetics (1999).
