(SQUAMISH)--An exciting evening of entertainment at Howe Sound Secondary School on Friday, April 12 will satisfy your taste buds, your taste for jazz and your philanthropic spirit.
Hosted by Capilano College, a hot jazz and tapas event is being held to raise funds for the Linda Carney Memorial Endowment Fund. The fund, established last year to honour the late Linda Carney, provides bursaries to assist students from the Squamish area who wish to continue their education.

"The evening presents an opportunity to listen to some good jazz, enjoy some good food, and at the same time, raise some money for a worthwhile cause," says campus manager Casey Dorin.

Music will be provided by NiteCap, the Capilano College Jazz Studies premiere vocal jazz ensemble. Students in the Howe Sound Cooks Training program will plan and prepare the New Orleans style food, which will include a variety of Creole delectables in a licensed environment. An enticing silent auction will offer bidders a wide selection of items donated by local businesses.

"The idea for the fundraiser was developed by the Squamish campus advisory committee," Dorin explains. "The campus owes a lot to the work of the committee members who are so critical in keeping a connection to the community and in developing these kinds of endeavours."

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Howe Sound Secondary's Career Program office, 38430 Buckley Avenue, or at Capilano College, 1150 Carson Place. For ticket information, call Howe Sound Secondary at 604.892.9792, or Capilano College, 604.892.5322.
