(SECHELT, B.C.) – Members of the communities served by the Sechelt campus of Capilano College are invited to attend a celebration of its newly-expanded facility on Tuesday, October 16 from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. The campus is located at 5627 Inlet Avenue in Sechelt.
"The improved facility will continue to play an important role in the educational, economic and cultural life of the communities along the Sunshine Coast," says College president, Dr. Greg Lee. "The College is looking forward to celebrating the expansion with the many members of the Sunshine Coast’s communities who have worked towards its success over the years. This is also an opportunity for first time visitors to get an inside look at the campus."
Earlier in the year, the British Columbia government approved $1.4 million to expand and upgrade the Sechelt campus, which opened in 1977. The expansion provides 474 square metres of added classroom, library and office space, for a total of 1,041 square metres. The improvements also expanded and upgraded the computer lab, and provided an overall upgrade of the entire current campus.
The Sechelt campus offers a wide selection of courses including: Adult Basic Education; Career/Vocational courses; Personal Management and Planning; Community Access to Literacy and Learning; Applied Fisheries and Forestry Science; plus a selection of University Transfer courses. Sunshine Coast residents wishing to work towards a two-year Associate of Arts degree or credits toward a baccalaureate degree may do so without leaving the Coast.
