September 27, 1999: Capilano College announces its 1999/2000 board of governors

      Two new members have been elected and two new members appointed to the 1999/2000 Capilano College board of governors.

      Newly-appointed are Frances Moorcroft, a department head at Vancouver Technical Secondary School, and W. Gordon Lancaster, former chief financial officer at Lions Gate Entertainment Group.

      Newly-elected by the students are current student union president, Geoffrey Rosen, and Ben Williams, who was a previous student board representative.

      Current board chair and owner of Lasercolor Design and Printing in North Vancouver, Naomi Yamamoto, was elected chair for another year and Squamish resident, Donnaleen Miller, was elected vice chair.

      Returning voting board members include: Richard Band, Shari Graydon, Dal Hothi, Barbara Howard, Alexandra Niblock, Tam Van Tran, Ernie Tjensvold, Sam Weller, Diane Blaney (representing faculty), and Barry Williamson (representing staff).

      Returning nonvoting board members include College president, Greg Lee, Education Council chair, Paul Mier, and ex-officio representative, James Cooke.

      Capilano College serves the communities of the Lower Mainland, Howe Sound, and the Sunshine Coast through campuses in North Vancouver, Squamish and Sechelt. Enrolment totals 7,000 students in credit programs each term with an additional 7,000 people taking non-credit courses annually.
