January 27, 2016: Successful fundraising campaign means more bursaries for Cap U students
NORTH VANCOUVER. B.C. – Recognizing students increasingly struggle to cover tuition, books, supplies, housing and childcare costs, Capilano University recently intensified its fundraising efforts to assist those most challenged with financial need.
In just eight weeks, the Capilano University Foundation raised $80,000 through its Campaign for Student Success to provide immediate bursary support to students across all of the University’s programs.
The campaign received contributions from faculty, staff, retirees, alumni and friends of the University.
Nearly half of the donors to the campaign were University employees.
“I’m impressed with the level of commitment to students Capilano University faculty and staff have shown through their contributions,” says Geri Prior, chair of the Capilano University Foundation. “It’s obvious that faculty and staff are truly invested in seeing students succeed.”
“The money raised will make a real difference in students’ lives,” says Kris Bulcroft, president of Capilano University. “I’d like to thank everyone on the foundation team for leading this campaign. Recipients will be able to worry less about their finances and focus more on achieving their educational goals.”
