Managing People in Local Governments (MATI) program is an adventure that should be shared with the world! Interactive discussions held throughout the week on Bowen Island are heartfelt and engaging. Beautiful scenery surrounding the lodge creates a relaxed atmosphere allowing for easy conversation and role-playing as a source of interactive learning. These skills acquired throughout the week, are useful in workplace and amongst day-to-day life situations.
Enthusiasm from the presenters, the organizers and participants allows for diverse dialog creating a stress free learning atmosphere, encouraging positive turnouts. A wide range of relevant topics are covered during the week, in a manner that encourages dialog and creates a better understanding of how to manage people, and most of all, creating laughter. Not only is this retreat educational, the connections and friendships developed on island will last a lifetime. Many thanks go out to the organizers and presenters who take the time from their busy lives to help the students develop management and leadership skills to help make organizations function effectively. Goal setting, support, empathy and having the knowledge about different personalities will make difficult conversations seem a little easier to have, creating trust between managers and employees. Focus on the positive in the world, only good things can come of it.
