Cap U Accounting Students’ Most Successful Year Ever!

December 5, 2016

What do hard work, dedication and networking have to do with each other? Well, if you ask any of the 15 Cap U School of Business accounting students who were able to secure positions through the Fall 2016 CPA Recruit process, they will likely all say the same thing – a career in their chosen field!

But, securing one of the available roles through CPA Recruit is no small feat! With hundreds of students from all over BC vying for one of these positions, it is no wonder that it takes more than just submitting an application to secure an opportunity with one of the participating public practice firms.

This past spring and summer - in addition to their studies, work and volunteering activities - Cap U accounting students have dedicated countless hours to preparing themselves to be the best possible candidates for the CPA Recruit season. Notably, they have participated in Career Services workshops (resumes, cover letters, interviews, and networking), took advantage of the one-on-one advising and mentorship offered by their career advisors and faculty, and attended numerous networking events organized by the firms. Coming out on top at the end of the CPA Recruit took a lot of work!

So next time you hear firm names such as, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, Smythe, Wolrige Mahon, and DMCL, just to name a few, there is a good chance that a Capilano University alumnus is working there.

Note: CPA Recruit is a highly competitive recruitment process that occurs on an annual basis, where students are given an opportunity to secure a role with one of several participating midsize and national public practice firms.
