What would I say to other students thinking about going abroad?
I would say…go for it!
I started planning my study abroad term during my first year at Capilano. Maybe this was a bit pre-mature, however I didn’t want to miss out on such an amazing opportunity – so get on it!
Now that it is over, I wish I could do it all over again…and I want other students to be able to have that same experience and feeling. However, I am not sad that it is over; it has made me driven and excited for the next adventure.
Study abroad has really pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and to think more globally. This sort of thinking has already helped me in my personal and educational life.
Not only did study abroad open my eyes to other cultures and ways of life; it helped me solidify my ambitions to work internationally after graduation.
There are so many reasons to study abroad but I think that the key is to find your personal reason for studying abroad. As the saying goes…don’t knock it till you’ve tried it – and study abroad is certainly an experience any student thinking about going abroad should try.
