Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do School of Business courses transfer to other Colleges and Universities?

Many of our courses transfer to comparable programs in universities and colleges. Since we are always developing new courses, negotiation for transferability is an ongoing process.  Contact Advising for further assistance.

I work during the day, can I take courses at night?

From September to April, evening studies courses are available four evenings a week, Monday to Thursday. Evening courses are sometimes offered in May and June.  They are scheduled to enable a student to complete a Business Certificate (6 courses = 18 credits) or an Advanced Business Certificate (10 courses = 30 credits).  For assistance with course selection, please contact Advising or visit their webpages for the Advising Centre.

Can I transfer courses from other schools into the School of Business programs?

Yes, courses from other schools can be considered for credit here; however, to determine whether yours will be successfully granted credit please see more details in the admissions area.  If you wish further discussion about transferability of courses into the School of Business, please contact our Student Affairs faculty member.

What if I don’t meet the math requirements for admission?

If you do not meet the math requirements, please contact an Admissions and Advising.  Capilano University offers pre-university level courses.  Please see admission requirements for the School of Business, located in the left menu column on this web page.  There are admission requirements listed under each program area.

I have booked a flight before my exam date. Can I write my exam(s) early?

Without exception, exams cannot be written earlier than the scheduled dates.  It is the responsibility of students to be familiar with all policies in course outlines, as well as university policies.

I would like permission to register for a course for which I do not meet the pre-requisite or for which I believe I have an equivalent course for the pre-requisite.

You may contact the instructor directly for such queries, as it is the instructor who will decide either way.  For instructor emails, please see the campus phonebook.  To find out who is teaching a course, please see the Course Schedule (be sure to select the correct term first).

What if I have more questions?

An advisor is available to assist you with detailed program planning at advising@capilanou.ca or 604-984-4900. Or, bring your questions to a course planning workshop before registration.
