        We're excited for you to be part of CapU’s Residence community.

        In preparation for move in day on September 1, we have put together a handy guide to help make your move-in as smooth and easy as possible.

        Read your Residence Agreement

        The Residence Agreement outlines each of our roles and responsibilities to ensure we build a safe, engaging, connected and caring community.

        Move in September 1

        Move-in day is September 1, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re going to be late, let us know in advance at to make alternate arrangements.

        Follow the signs to unload and park. Then check-in at the big tent in front of the Dining Hall. There will be a whole bunch of us on hand to help you out – look for us in the “Welcome Home” t-shirts!

        What’s happening on Move-in Day and throughout the weekend:

        9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Welcome Fair

        • Celebrate first day at residence at a welcome fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sample Ethical Bean Coffee, sign-up for Evo car share, meet your Capilano Students’ Union, and learn more about Security, Counselling, Aboriginal Student Services, and much more. 

        11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Lunch

        • Students, friends, and family are invited to join us for a complimentary, all-you-care-to eat lunch in the Dining Hall. 

        7 p.m. – First Floor Meeting

        • Meet your Residence Advisor, the students on your floor, and get involved in your new community!

        Saturday and Sunday – Get to know your new friends

        • Afternoon and evening events and outings planned by your Residence Advisors. More information will be shared during move-in.

        Tuesday, September 5th – Classes begin

        • On-campus Orientation and Street Party
        • Residence Advisors will be on hand to help you get to campus

        What to do if you miss move-in

        If you don't move-in by the end of day on Thursday, September 7 and have not made alternate arrangements with us, we will assume you are not arriving. Your room will be offered to the next person on the wait list. Your room will be cancelled and you will lose your $500 non-refundable confirmation fee. 

        Arrivals after the deadline can be approved with prepayment of your residence fees. Please email to arrange your late arrival.

        Get renters insurance

        Like all renters, we strongly recommend students consider renters’ insurance to for your personal property. Read about more about rental insurance in Section 5, Liability, Loss, and Insurance of the Residence Agreement

        Here are some key dates to note:

        • September 1, 2017 – Move in Day
        • September 22, 2017 – Fall term residence fees due
        • December 1, 2017 – Winter break residence fees due (if you’re staying in residence during Winter Break)
        • December 16, 2017 to January 2, 2018 – Winter break
        • January 3, 2018 – Spring term begins
        • January 19, 2018 – Spring term residence fees due
        • April 22, 2018 – Move out Day

        • December 1, 2017 – Winter break residence fees due
