Using Your Voicemail

        How to access your voicemail

        • From your Cisco office phone:
          1. Press the messages button on your Cisco office phone.
          2. Enter your voicemail PIN followed by # (pound).
          3. The new messages will start playing. Follow the prompts to deal with the voicemail (for example, press 1 to listen to it again, 2 to save it, or 3 to delete it).
        • From off campus:
          1. Dial 604-984-4999.
          2. Enter your extension number followed by # (pound).
          3. Enter your voicemail PIN followed by # (pound).
          4. The new messages will start playing. Follow the prompts to deal with the voicemail (for example, press 1 to listen to it again, 2 to save it, or 3 to delete it).

        First time voicemail setup

        1. Press the messages button on your Cisco office phone.
        2. Enter the default voicemail PIN 1478963 followed by # (pound).
        3. Enter a new PIN ensuring that it is at least 4 digits long and it is not too simple (such as 1234, or repetition of the same number).
          The following is the list of all voicemail PIN restrictions:
          • Can't match the numeric representation of the first or last name of the user.
          • Can't contain the extension number of the user
          • Can't contain the reverse of the extension number of the user
          • Can't contain groups of repeated digits such as "408408"
          • Can't contain only two different digits such as "121212"
          • Can't contain a digit repeated more than two times consecutively such as "28883"
          • Can't contain an ascending or descending group of digits such as "012345" or "987654"
        4. Follow the prompts to set up your voicemail options such as your greeting.

        How to change your voicemail greeting

        After the initial voicemail setup, you can change your standard voicemail greeting at any time.

        1. Press the messages button on your Cisco office phone.
        2. Enter your voicemail PIN followed by # (pound).
        3. Press 4 to access the Setup Options menu.
        4. Press 1 to access the Greetings menu.
        5. Your current greeting will play. Press 1 to record a new greeting.
        6. At the tone, speak your new greeting. Press # (pound) when finished.
        7. The new greeting will play. Press # (pound) if you are happy with the new greeting, or press 1 to record again.

        How to change your voicemail PIN

        If your voicemail PIN has expired or you have forgotten your current voicemail PIN, you will not be able to change your voicemail PIN. Please contact IT Services to request that we reset your voicemail PIN for you.
        If your voicemail PIN is not expired, you can change your voicemail PIN by following the steps below.

        1. Press the messages button on your Cisco office phone.
        2. Enter your current voicemail PIN followed by # (pound).
        3. Press 4 to access the Setup Options menu.
        4. Press 3 to access the Preferences menu.
        5. Press 1 to change your voicemail PIN.
        6. Follow the prompts to enter and save your new voicemail PIN.
          Please make sure that your new voicemail PIN is at least 4 digits long, is not too simple and is not a repeat of a previously used PIN.

        How to record and use other greetings

        You can record and use an alternate greeting for when you, for example, go on vacation.

        1. Press the messages button on your Cisco office phone.
        2. Enter your voicemail PIN followed by # (pound).
        3. Press 4 to access the Setup Options menu.
        4. Press 1 to access the Greetings menu.
        5. Your current greeting will play. If the alternate greeting is turned on, that is the greeting that will play. Otherwise, your standard greeting will play.
        6. To record your alternate greeting, do the following from the Greetings menu:
          • Press 3 and then 3 again to record your alternate greeting.
          • At the tone, speak your alternate greeting. Press # (pound) when finished.
          • The alternate greeting will play. Press # (pound) if you are happy with the greeting, or press 1 to record again.
        7. To turn on your alternate greeting indefinitely, do the following from the Greetings menu:
          • Press 2 to turn on the alternate greeting.
          • Press # (pound) to set it until you turn it off.
        8. To turn on your alternate greeting for a set amount of time, do the following from the Greetings menu:
          • Press 2 to turn on the alternate greeting.
          • Press 1 to choose the end date and time.
          • Press 9 to enter a date and time.
          • Enter the month as 1-12 followed by # (pound).
          • Enter the day as 1-31 followed by # (pound).
          • Enter the time as hmm followed by # (pound) (e.g. 500# for 5:00)
          • Press 1 for am or 2 for pm.
          • The system will summarize the end date and time for you and turn on the alternate greeting until the end date and time.
        9. To turn off your alternative greeting (and turn on your standard greeting), press 2 from the Greetings menu.
