(NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C.) – Capilano is calling for nominations for the inaugural The One to Watch Award, which will honour alumni who have distinguished themselves early in their careers or professions.

These rising stars should be a former student of any program at one of Capilano’s three campuses within the past 10 years of the award year. This award complements Capilano’s recently launched Distinguished Alumni Award, which honours those alumni who have 10 or more years of professional experience.

“Capilano takes great pride in the accomplishments of its alumni and I encourage the general public to nominate someone who meets the criteria,” says Janis Connolly, alumni relations officer. “It’s important that people are recognized for their contributions and achievements, and this award presents a perfect opportunity in which to do that.”

Criteria can include outstanding professional achievement, service to the community or public service, contributions to Capilano, dedication to continued learning, demonstration of an entrepreneurial spirit, or a global influence of a nominee’s achievement.

Anyone can nominate a former student for an award. Nominations close on September 15. Up to three awards will be presented annually at Capilano’s fall convocation and a gala reception will be held November 22 to honour all nominees and recipients. A nomination package can be found at
